Timber-signing ceremony at Trehus
Last week we were on site at our Trehus project in Maidenhead for a timber signing ceremony. We all signed a timber beam, which was lifted into place within the building frame - a custom originating in Scandinavia to appease tree-dwelling spirits displaced during construction, and a nod to our partners at Smedvig, a Norwegian family fund.
While there will be plenty of timber on display in the finished building, our signatures won't be visible! But we'll know they are there, and the energy that so many people have brought to this project will be locked-in for the future - from the design team at Waugh Thistleton, the HUB team that have shepherded it to this stage, and teams from Heyne Tillett Steel, Circle Development, HESS TIMBER, Glencar.
That touch of individuality is a big part of this project. There's something about working with natural materials that feels special, alongside some impressive sustainability wins:
🌳 low embodied carbon
🌳 net zero carbon enabled
🌳 targeting BREEAM Outstanding, EPC A and 3* Fitwel rating
🌳 natural materials inside and out
Another milestone reached for this exceptional project, the only new timber framed office development being delivered in the whole of the Thames Valley, with PC scheduled end 2026.
